Uzbekistan has applied the Hague Apostille Convention since 15 April 2012. An FDA export certificate for a registration in Tashkent needs one U.S. Department of State apostille, with no Uzbek consulate legalization. Upload the digital certificate and we return it apostilled by FedEx.
Simply upload your FDA digital file, and you will receive your apostilled document via FedEx.
Uzbekistan is one of the most open markets in Central Asia for products already approved in the United States. Under a 2018 presidential decree and Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 862, medicines authorized in any of 20 countries with high regulatory standards, the U.S. among them, can follow a simplified registration that skips Uzbekistan's own safety, quality and efficacy examination. The state expert center then has 15 working days to decide.
Proof of the U.S. authorization is central to that route, and for U.S. products it comes from FDA documents. Because the FDA is a federal agency, only the U.S. Department of State can apostille them. We handle that and ship the apostilled certificate to you or straight to your Uzbek representative.
Match your product to the Uzbek authority that reviews it and the FDA certificate that authority normally expects.
| Product type | Uzbek authority | FDA certificate |
|---|---|---|
| Medicines | Ministry of Health, State Center for Expertise and Standardization of Medicines, Medical Devices and Medical Equipment | Certificate of a Pharmaceutical Product (CPP), Certificate of Exportability |
| Medical devices | Ministry of Health expert center for medicines and medical devices | Certificate to a Foreign Government (CFG), Certificate of Exportability |
| Food, ingredients & infant formula | Sanitary and epidemiological authorities | Certificate to a Foreign Government (CFG), Health Certificate |
| Dietary supplements & medical foods | Sanitary and epidemiological authorities, depending on classification | Certificate of Free Sale (CFS) |
| Cosmetics & personal care | Sanitary and epidemiological authorities and conformity assessment bodies | Certificate for Cosmetics |
Uzbekistan has reorganized its health regulators several times since 2017, so agency names change. Your Uzbek representative will confirm the current authority, the route for your product and the FDA documents it needs.
The Hague Apostille Convention has been in force for Uzbekistan since 15 April 2012, so a single apostille from the U.S. Department of State makes your FDA certificate valid there. There is no embassy visit, consular stamp or second legalization step.
Send the digital certificate exactly as the FDA issued it and choose Uzbekistan as the destination.
We check that the certificate is complete, FDA-signed and ready for the State Department.
We submit it to the Office of Authentications and track it until the apostille is issued.
The apostilled certificate ships to you, your importer or your agent in Tashkent or anywhere else.
Medicines authorized in the U.S., the EU (including via the EMA), the UK, Switzerland, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Israel or Norway can use Uzbekistan's simplified registration. A decision is due within 15 working days, and the first authorization lasts five years. After renewal, it becomes unlimited.
Uzbekistan has also introduced simplified registration for medical devices already approved in recognized jurisdictions. Ask your representative whether your device qualifies and which apostilled FDA documents the route requires.
Uzbek is the state language, and Russian is still widely used in business and administration. Files typically need a certified translation into Uzbek or Russian. Apostille the FDA certificate first, then translate it, so the apostille is included.
Unlike neighbouring Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan isn't a full member of the Eurasian Economic Union, so it registers products nationally. An EAEU registration doesn't automatically cover Uzbekistan. Plan a separate file and separate apostilled originals.
