Jordan sits outside the Hague Apostille Convention, so an FDA certificate headed for the Jordan Food and Drug Administration in Amman must carry two stamps: U.S. Department of State authentication, then legalization by the Embassy of Jordan. Upload the digital certificate and we handle both offices, returning the legalized document by FedEx in about 14 business days.
Simply upload your FDA digital file, and you will receive your legalized document via FedEx.
FedEx delivery is used to return the completed legalized document after processing.
See expedited options →One agency covers almost everything a U.S. health-product exporter sells in Jordan. The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) registers medicines, medical devices and cosmetics, and it shares food import control with the Ministry of Agriculture and Jordan Customs. Foreign companies don't file directly: a Jordanian authorized representative or local agent holds the registration, and the dossier they submit leans heavily on documents issued in the country of origin.
For U.S. manufacturers that is good news, because JFDA treats FDA clearance as a primary basis for registering a medical device, alongside CE marking. The catch is the paperwork chain. Jordan expects foreign supporting documents to be legalized through its embassy, and a federal FDA certificate can only start that chain at the U.S. Department of State. We take the certificate through both steps so your agent receives a document JFDA will accept.
Match your product to the Jordanian authority that reviews it and the FDA certificate that authority normally expects.
| Product type | Jordanian authority | FDA certificate |
|---|---|---|
| Medicines & biologicals | Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) | Certificate of a Pharmaceutical Product (CPP), Certificate of Exportability |
| Medical devices | JFDA, with FDA clearance or CE marking as the usual basis | Certificate to a Foreign Government (CFG), Certificate of Exportability |
| Food, dairy & ingredients | JFDA and the Ministry of Agriculture, with Jordan Customs at the border | Certificate to a Foreign Government (CFG), Health Certificate |
| Dietary supplements | JFDA, classified as a food supplement or a drug depending on the claims | Certificate of Free Sale (CFS) |
| Cosmetics | JFDA | Certificate for Cosmetics |
JFDA is the main health-product regulator, but meat, poultry, fish, fruit and vegetables also need Ministry of Agriculture import approval. Your Jordanian agent will confirm which body reviews your product and which FDA certificate it wants.
Jordan is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so it does not accept apostilles. Your FDA certificate is first authenticated by the U.S. Department of State and then legalized by the Embassy of Jordan.
Send the digital certificate exactly as the FDA issued it and choose Jordan as the destination.
We submit it to the Office of Authentications, which issues the federal authentication certificate in about 9 business days.
We take the authenticated certificate to the Embassy of Jordan for legalization, which takes about 5 business days.
The legalized certificate ships to you, your importer or your agent in Amman or anywhere else.
JFDA accepts FDA clearance (510(k), De Novo or PMA) as a primary basis for medical device registration. Devices without FDA or CE approval follow a slower route that needs free sale certificates from the origin country and from a further reference market such as Canada or Australia.
USDA's FAIRS report for Jordan lists the FDA Certificate to a Foreign Government, or a sanitary certificate, among the documents requested by JFDA, the Ministry of Agriculture and Customs. It also notes that state-level certification alone is likely not enough, so a legalized federal certificate is the safer choice.
Foreign device manufacturers cannot register directly with JFDA. A Jordanian legal entity holding a valid import licence acts as the authorized representative, under an agency agreement that must itself be legalized by a Jordanian embassy. We can legalize that agreement in the same order as your FDA certificates.
Arabic is Jordan's official language. Device labels must give key information such as the device name, manufacturer, warnings and storage conditions in Arabic, and agents often ask for an Arabic translation of supporting certificates after legalization.
